What to Expect: Our Discovery & Scoping Process

Before we write a line of code, we spend time understanding how your business actually works. Here's what that phase looks like.

Every engagement starts with discovery, whether the project is a two-week integration or a multi-month platform build. The goal is the same either way: understand how your business actually operates before proposing how software should change it.

We typically begin with a working session covering the problem, the people affected, and any systems already in play. From there we ask follow-up questions that surface edge cases — the exceptions to the standard process are usually where the real complexity, and the real cost, lives.

Discovery ends with a scope: a written breakdown of what we'll build, in what order, and why. You'll see the reasoning behind each priority, not just a feature list, so you can push back on anything that doesn't match how you actually work.

For larger engagements, scoping may span a short paid discovery phase rather than a single call — that's a deliberate tradeoff to get the estimate right before either side commits to a full build.
